I am pleased to share with you excerpts from my interview with this amazing young woman:
You just returned from a trip to South Africa, can you talk about who you traveled with?
Taylor: I went to south Africa with a group of radical revivalists from all over the world. We had a girl from Ecuador, a guy from Switzerland and then people from all over America. There were 16 of us total and we had the privilege of going with six people from Cleveland Ohio Bethel school and then 10 from Bethel school in Redding. My leader was an amazing guy named Thomas who is one of our pastors, Chris Overstreet's intern.
What experience while there stands out for you?
Taylor: Being completely honest the biggest experience on this trip for me was realizing I was on it for a completely different reason than I thought I was. Last year I got to go to Johannesburg and Pretoria South Africa and we saw over 200 healings and over 400 salvations and I was completely blown away by that trip. I was really expectant to see the same things as I did on the last trip which didn't happen, so honestly, half my trip was me comparing and thinking...Lord, why haven't I seen the things I saw last time? And He so lovingly whispered "you're on it for a completely different reason" and it just made me stop and pay attention to small details and the things I was letting pass me by.
I realized last year was all about the ministry and healings and salvations, it was all about what Jesus was doing in people around me and this year was completely about the family being created, and what was happening in me and it made for a completely different environment and a whole different atmosphere which I didn't understand at first. But this trip completely changed my life in the sense that I came back with a whole new family I never knew could be created in every sense of the word.
How did your faith deepen on the trip?
Taylor: Your faith is gonna deepen any time you go on a mission trip. There's no possible way for the Lord not to show up on a mission trip! There are couple instances I can remember... The first one was one of our last nights we went to a church service in Cape Town and for the people there it was so out of the box for them to pray for each other and see healings happen through their own hands, so we decided that the night of the last service we had that we would have them pray for each other and it was just incredible experience to watch them realize how powerful they are and how much power is in their hands and that night alone we saw over 50 people get healed by their congregations hands!
Seeing the boxes open and the mindsets shift was so powerful for me. Seeing people walk in the authority they were given. The second one was one night we got to go to Stellenbosch, a beautiful town in Cape Town and we went and hung out with some kids there. Later that night we had a women's group and we just got to pray over the women that were part of the group and one of the ladies there had been working on the farm for 40 years and she had incredible knee pain and was in the line for surgery but she was on the surgery wait list for at least five more years, and we just got to pray for her and watched as she began to squat and jump and dance, and get completely healed. It's so exciting to see The healing flow from your own hands and just be reminded of how powerful the Lord is. When you realize it's not about you and all about the creator of the universe, everything comes so easy and everything comes so naturally because it's not about you anymore.
What do you want other youth to know about walking with Christ?
Taylor: It's easy. It's so easy walking with Christ. It is the easiest thing you'll ever do. The easiest decision you'll ever make. So many times you come across youth who are tired of Christianity because of the rules, tired of the Christianity because it's too hard and no one understands them. When you really get to the bottom of things Christianity is loving Christ and loving people with your whole heart and it's the easiest thing you'll ever do. In the kingdom everything comes so easy, everything's natural when you are walking in who you're fully meant to be.
If you could say anything to our readers, what would it be?
Taylor: Being super honest, I would say "you are made for greater." Greater and bigger things than you could ever imagine. And because of that you were created to dream bigger. The sky is not the limit anymore you are boundary less. You were reconciled and redeemed in Christ and now you're new creation and you have no limits and you can dream as big as you want, Because you have a big dad will come through every time.
