“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
This keeps us humble, lest we think mercy is what we show others who are less fortunate than us. Truth is, mercy is a great equalizer, we all need it, nobody’s exempt. Lots of attention is given to showing mercy to others, but even more important is asking for and receiving God’s mercy, love and forgiveness into our hearts, transforming us into His likeness, cleansing us, preparing us for the honor of witnessing his mercy to others. And, honor it is, to be a follower of Christ, and given the great privilege of demonstrating his mercy to a hurting world. Once you’ve experienced the power of the risen King, accepted salvation, showing mercy is the natural outpouring of a soul filled with His spirit. I am so thankful God gifted me with his mercy!
