As I prepare to launch the second book in my Makai Series: Makai King, I’ve been thinking about why some people pursue writing while others comment on maybe someday publishing a novel but never put pen to paper. I’m convinced those who write do so because of a burning passion and regardless of whether they’re published or acknowledged as writers, they simply must write. I believe it’s a calling and can’t imagine not embracing this gift.
If you’ve experienced the unquenchable desire to write I encourage you to press into the gift and follow your passion. Don’t let haters discourage you. Take a small step and see what happens. Here are some ideas for how to get started:
1. Journal daily- Jot down thoughts and ideas with no pressure.
2. Read books in the genre you’d like to write in and publish reviews of the books on Amazon or other sites like Goodreads.
3. Join a writing community or local writers group, it’s a great way to learn as well as meet other’s that share your passion.
I’ll never regret taking these baby steps myself and am so grateful for the authors who have helped me along the way. Let’s all encourage each other as we celebrate the joy of writing!
