Raised in a Christian home, her family exemplified what it meant to trust in Christ. My friends’ funeral was a celebration of her life and love of Jesus. Stories were shared of how she impacted the lives of so many in such a short time. Even in death she witnessed to me what it meant to live a life of hope. God does not want us to waste a moment outside of his plan for us.
Every day is a gift and we each must choose how our moments will be spent. We often take time for granted and waste days or years on guilt, hard feelings, unforgiveness or anger. Don’t let the enemy rob you of the life God has planned for you. I could have chosen to wallow in my grief but to do so would have tarnished the memory of everything my friend stood for and stolen the life God called me to live. Everyone experiences pain, suffering and grief but do not let those emotions become the legacy of who you are, let it be an opportunity to witness the overcoming love of Jesus Christ. I have no doubt I will see my friend again and can only hope I leave a fraction of the impact on others that she had on me.
A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
