….the great God, mighty and awesome, who is not partial and takes no bribe, who executes justice for the orphan and the widow and who loves the strangers, providing them food and clothing.
According to the Christian Alliance for Orphans: Total estimated number of orphans worldwide: 153 million
According to World Vision: More than 85 million children worldwide are subjected to the worst forms of child labor, including trafficking for commercial sex exploitation and hazardous physical labor.
Christians cannot deny the worldwide crisis facing children today. i witnessed this firsthand during a recent trip to the Philippines where children of all ages live on the streets, exploited, orphaned and left to survive on their own. Our God is a God of action, calling us to respond to the need of the most vulnerable, His children. Jennifer Pitkin has risen to His call by drawing attention to the cause of orphans worldwide and becoming an advocate for international adoption. Her book, Folded: The Forging of an Adoptive Family" (Christian nonfiction) highlights the issues, challenges and blessings of adoption. If you are in Iowa you can join her for a special pre-release screening of the documentary "The Drop Box" on Saturday, Nov 22!
