In Outcasts, the second book in Jill Williamson's Safe Lands series, Levi finds himself not only the leader of Glenrock's remaining people but also the head of a new rebel force called the Messengers, intent on unmasking the Safe Lands' lies. At the same time, Mason uncovers secrets that may be more dangerous than he ever imagined. Meanwhile, Omar decides to take matters into his own hands.
Wow, I read most of this book from the edge of my seat! Outcasts picks up where Captives left off and propels readers into nonstop action. Levi has accepted leadership of his ragged group and Omar is struggling to redeem himself, despite doubts about his own worthiness. Alliances shift as the people of Glenrock learn who can be trusted in the bewildering Safe Lands.
Mature themes continue in this book, issues such as addiction, teen pregnancy, pre-marital sex and materialism haunt the characters, but are countered with Christian morals and values, demonstrating the importance of choices made in life. Hero’s emerge from deeply flawed individuals, much like real life! The growing relationship between Omar and Shay is especially moving, a powerful example of the power of forgiveness.
Once again, the author leaves readers with a cliff hanger, ughhhh…..my only complaint, I hate having to wait to find out what happens! Stay tuned.
